The Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls trails are two of the most popular hiking trails in Iceland, and since they are connected through Þórsmörk – many hikers choose to do them both one after another. Although most people start their hike in Landmannalaugar there are some who prefer starting in Skógar – and doing so has one major upside. 
A dip in the local natural geothermal pool at Landmannalaugar is the perfect relaxation at the end of your hike.
