Þórsmörk
Þórsmörk – an oasis of natural birch woods. The valleys of Þórsmörk, Langidalur and Básar, are popular destinations for many travelers, not least among the local population.
Þórsmörk is to the north of the treacherous Krossá river – with the rivers Markarfljót and Þröngá as boundary still further to the north. Langidalur is the end or the start point of the popular Laugavegur trekking trail. Básar is to the south of Krossá – with the imposing Eyjafjalla- and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers in its back garden.
Básar give access to the 1000 meter tall Fimmvörðuháls trek over to hamlet Skógar to the south. Both areas count as wonderland for hikers, with endless trails and routes, in countless small valleys and gorges, with delicate birch woods, glacial rivers, crystal-clear brooks and splendid mountain scenery. The landscapes of this charming destination is a series of deep valleys, crisscrossed by numerous fast flowing rivers, fantastic hiking trails and glaciers on three sides.
We have daily departures to Þórsmörk from Reykjavík, Hella and Hvolsvöllur.

* Hikers Bus Pass: Ideal for those who intend to hike in the Laugavegur trail, the Fimmvörðuháls trail – or both! The pass guaranties a transfer from Reykjavík to your starting point at Þórsmörk, Landmannalaugar or Skógar – and back to Reykjavík from the end-point of your hike.

Bicycles: Unfortunately we can not guarantee transportation of bicycles in advance, as it depends on if we have room in the luggage compartment. When available, additional price is 4.000 ISK per bike. Please send an email to info@trex.is for bicycle bookings.
Packages: We provide transportation of packages to Þórmörk Básar and Þórsmörk Langidalur for those travelling with us.
This service is included in the ticket price. Note that Landmannalaugar do not offer storage of packages.
Teenagers & Children: 0-15 years old get 20% discount in care of adults.
Terms & Conditions:
Departures: We ask our passengers to arrive at the bus station at least 10 minutes prior to departure.
Change booking: Please send an email to info@trex.is with at least 24 hours advance and we will help with any alterations you wish to make to your booking.
Arrival time: Exact time of arrival may be effected by road conditions.
Schedules: We reserve the right to make changes to schedules if needed e.g. in the unlikely event of a weather storm.
The Hikers’ bus pass is ideal for those who intend to hike in the Laugavegur trail, the Fimmvörðuháls trail – or both!
The pass guaranties a single transfer from Reykjavík to your starting point at Þórsmörk, Landmannalaugar or Skógar – and back to Reykjavík from the end-point of your hike. You can take all the time you need for the hike, provided it falls within the passports’ time frame between the 21st of June and the 8th of September 2024.
